Sunday June 30th will be remembered as the day it rained sixes at Warinanco Park in Elizabeth NJ. Batting first Westfield was all out for 141 runs. In reply Montego Bay scored 142 for the loss of 3 wickets in 17.1 overs. Ewart Nicholson a young talented cricketer from the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago destroyed the Westfield bowlers. He scored 108 not out included were 9 sixes and 4 fours. It was a lesson in concentration while demonstrating how to construct an innings. Nicholson's stroke play was exquisite: it was a symphony of defense and aggression resulting in total domination of the Westfield bowlers. Ewart plays for Power Gen in South Trinidad and for the Trinidad and Tobago senior team; with his talent he should be playing in the Caribbean T-20. He is one of the most if not the most exciting young batsmen currently playing in the Garden State Cricket League. |
